The plentitude economy

Take a look at this 5 minute hand-drawn video on the new idea of a ‘plentitude economy’ produced by the American Dream.  It provides an idea of what a post consumer society would look like.

Suggestions from the video:

  • Work 4 days a week to create more jobs for the unemployed
  • DIYing our lives – great kiwi attitude that needs to be promoted more
  • Sustainable living through building communities.

Living in a plentitude economy – bliss!  It is a win win situation – it boosts the economy, provides more employment, reduces poverty and is good for the environment!

So .. what do you do to consume less?

  1. Tracey this is awesome. My husband and I really like the concept of a plenitude economy. We cycle and walk almost everywhere, share only one car, buy in bulk to save packaging, cook everything we eat from scratch, resist the i-movement (you know, i-pads, i-phones, bigger and flatter computer screens!) etc etc. I look forward to seeing this plenitude economy come into play, but boy, it starts with us. 🙂

  2. This is a great video & concept isn’t it =) can’t wait to see what the future brings and living in a plentitude economy in the near future.
I do also have a car but I live in Auckland City so I walk almost everywhere, I need to work on eating everything from scratch – good on you both =)
I do agree with you, it does start with us :).

    Thanks for the comment x
